Olympic Games 2024 also known as “2024 Summer Olympics” is an International Multi-Sports Event hosted in the City of Paris, France. This year marks the 3rd time for Paris City to host the Olympic Games. 1st and 2nd time when Paris hosted the Olympic Games was in 1900 and 1924.
This year around 10,500 athletes participated in the 329 events in 32 sports. The Olympic Games 2024 were held for a period of 15 days i.e Opening – 26 July, 2024 and Closing – 11 August, 2024. Paris Olympics 2024 Motto was ‘GAME WIDE OPEN’ and this year mascot was ‘The Phryges’ which symbolises ‘Freedom and Liberty’.
‘Abhinav Bindra’ is given ‘Olympic Order’ award for contributing to the Olympic Movement greatly and was also selected to carry ‘Olympic Torch’ this year.

India’s performance this year in comparison to “Tokyo 2020 Olympics’ was disappointing because this year India won 6 Medals in total Comprising of :
5 Bronze + 1 Silver = Medals won by India
But in the year 2020 India won a total of 7 Medals :
4 Bronze + 2 Silver + 1 Gold = 7 Medals won by India
Opting for open-air parade along a 6km stretch of the ‘River Seine’, the 2024 Opening Ceremony creates history as this is the first time in history of Olympic Games that the ceremony was held outside the traditional stadium. ‘PV Sindhu’ (Badminton) and ‘Sharath Kamal’ (Table Tennis) were set as the flagbearers for India during the Nation’s Parade.
Closing Ceremony of 2024 Olympics was held in ‘Stade De France’ where the flagbearers for India during ceremony were ‘PR Sreejesh’ (Hockey Goalkeeper) and ‘Manu Bhaker’ (Pistol Shooter).
Athletes Sent By India To Participate In Summer Olympics 2024 :
This Year India sent a total of 117 athletes across 16 sports with a demography of 47 Females and 70 Male athletes. In Tokyo Games 2021, contingent of 121 athletes was sent by India. This is the second time India has sent this many athletes to compete in this International Event.
The Oldest Player that participated in the Olympic Games 2024 from India is ‘Rohan Bopanna’ a 44 Year-Old Tennis Player and The Youngest Player from India is ‘Dhinidhi Desinghu’ a 14 Year-Old Swimmer.
‘Gagan Narang’ was named Chef-De-Mission for Paris Olympics 2024 i.e he was in charge of Indian team in the Olympics.
