Delhi gains back its livelihood as fog clears and pollution decreases. On Nov 17 Sunday, AQI reached 450 and by the next morning Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) issued instructions to implement Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage IV, this measure was taken as AQI soared to 494 on 18 Nov, 2024. Yesterday i.e November 20, CAQM decided to withdraw GRAP IV and implement GRAP stage III restrictions across Delhi and NCR districts. As of today, GRAP III is still in action and Delhi recorded an AQI of 379 which still is ‘very hazardous’ for health.
CAQM mandate closure of schools under GRAP stage 3 and 4, in Delhi and other NCR districts of Gurugram, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. The commission has advised private companies to allow only 50 percent of there employees to report to work, also instructed to alter the timings of public offices and municipal bodies to combat the pollution exposure in NCR districts.
Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) introduced these guidelines to improve air quality and combat the increasing air pollution for everyone well-being. Government encourages the residents to strictly follow these guidelines and extend there full support to overcome this crisis.
Although fog has lifted and visibility has increased significantly doesn’t mean that level of concern has lessen. 379 AQI still falls under Hazardous category, i.e everyone health is at risk and those with respiratory disease should likely remain in a lockdown. At this time, health should be first priority for each individual.
